Frank Bivona Endorses Dennis Bonagura for Council

Dennis Bonagura served on the Borough Council and has that past experience to guide him in the future.  He has had a successful business career which is now more limited and he has the time to devote to our Council.  He has a strong financial and management background.  He also stood with me in my election committee in 2009 and was first to shake my hand when I won by a landslide that year.  Dennis came to me about a year or so ago and ask to get involved in the Borough again now that he had more time.  I asked him to serve on the Parks and Recreation Committee which he has for the past year and a half.  His experience from his days on the Rec Commission and his role in the town has been a very valuable addition.  I know I can work alongside Dennis and that, although we won’t always agree, he will stand up for what is right in Franklin Lakes.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

We plan to work with the Ambulance Corps, Fire Department, and Law Enforcement to keep our neighborhoods, schools, and businesses safe and secure. With the increase in traffic and development, it’s critical that we invest in our emergency services to be able to continue to provide the same level of support for our future.

RECREATION & PARKS

Recreational programs have been the core of Franklin Lakes' great quality of life. We need to continue to provide services to our children, seniors, and families and create new ones to help our community thrive.  We also need to continue to protect open space and enhance our parks for events and activities.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are truly passionate about this issue and will hold the line on local property taxes without adding to our debt and focus on responsible budgeting and long-term strategic financial planning while maintaining our "AAA" Bond rating.

About Dennis

I moved to Franklin Lakes in the early 1960s as a child and enjoyed the recreational programs and all the schools, including Ramapo High School. When I married my wife, Kristine, we decided to start our family in the wonderful community of Franklin Lakes. With our four children, Michele, Andrew, Alex, and David, we have lived in Franklin Lakes for over 29 years.

Currently, I am retired with over 30 years of successful experience providing fiscal, strategic, and operational leadership as a business executive, owner, and CEO. Since retirement, I have started a small boutique business advisory company, Professional Business Strategies, LLC, helping business owners and executives get "unstuck" from the day-to-day details of their business; whether it be financial management, work-life balance, hiring systems, marketing, sales, customer service, or exit and succession strategies, the one thing I know is that a goal without a plan is just a wish.

In recent decades, our family has developed a deep connection to this great community. Our children attended all the local schools: Most Blessed Sacrament Academy, High Mountain, Colonial Road, FAMS, Ramapo, Indian Hills, and DePaul Catholic. Michele, Andrew, Alex, and David were involved in many teams and activities in town, such as baseball, softball, basketball, scouts, soccer, MBS Youth Group, and football. I enjoyed coaching all of my children in the sports they played and cherish those memories. I have valued the opportunity to serve on the Recreation Commission for more than a decade, ending in 2005. Currently, I serve as the Council President here in our wonderful town.

Today, I sit on the Public Safety Committee, which includes FirePoliceAmbulanceOffice of Emergency ManagementCourtREACHFranklin Lakes Recreation and Parks Committee, the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority (NBCUA) Board of Commissioners, and the Franklin Lakes County Committee (District 5), where I represent our community both locally and at the county level.

I look forward to continuing to serve you as a member of the Franklin Lakes Council.
